Now I mentioned that I liked Canberra 11 (what happened to 13 and 14, out of curiosity?) but this blows it away. The play of repeating squares is very fun, not to mention just visually appealing. And there's all sorts of great lines, wonderful colours, and good contrast- I think the bright sky really helps to animate this. What keeps striking me, though, is how clear it is. The only spots on this that aren't perfect and precise are the little pieces of dirt that just never seem to come off my monitor.

p.s. like the new devico! Very clean, but nice. Certainly more fitting than the old one. :P

Top shot Mike.

Architectural images of modern buildings are so-so generally; this image is cleverly different and well seen.

The complimentary colours are most pleasing. The edge to edge clarity is well executed Mate.

Hello,
Thanks, I'm really glad you like it. It's a one exposure raw instead of my usual 5 exposure jpg. With ‘some’ of my shots they are 20% set up at the spot, 80% Photoshop. This was the opposite and has basically no photoshopping except for a few marks and distracting spots cleared up. It's my first non-HDR dev. Despite being a different medium than my normal work, it's still got the Estes/ Turner influenced and without my name on it you could probably still tell it’s MHN, I like to think it has that look about it.

Shot on 100ISO it’s still amazingly noisy when you zoom right in but in the size it’s shown on DA you really can’t tell.

I would like to shoot it again in the morning when the sun is on the same side of the building. This was pretty much all in shadow and I had to bring the brightness up when I was e-developing it.

Thanks once again.

Thanks heaps, I was really glad to see you Fav'd this one, i was wondering what you'd think since it is still identifiable as a Nation shot, but done completely different to anything else in my gallery.

I like my little N sign. I was inspired by your 750 logo.
Peace out.

Your style is you Mate. I like you being you.

Acknowledging you influences is most rewarding for those who take an interest in your work and it is a fine honest trait.

I totally agree. I was thinking about acknowledging influences on Sunday night; mostly in that I can tell who’s influenced one of my shots, but unless it’s obvious the people who are looking at my work might not be able to tell.

I also found that I was getting a little too close to the photorealism work Estes used to do, to the point of almost copying him, so I’ve decided to look for angles and strong lines to put over the reflections I shoot.

I plan to shoot one exposure raws for a little while and see how I go with that. I prefer the image from one, instead of three or five exposures because it has a ‘cleaner’, more realistic look to it.

See lata,
MH
